Engineer Mahmoud Hamouda, a member of the Export Council for Agricultural Crops, confirmed that the agricultural sector is the backbone of the Egyptian economy, and is very vital and grows significantly annually, especially since crops are one of the most important sectors that achieve good performance at the level of exports at present.

Hamouda identified, in statements on the sidelines of his participation in the Sahara International Agricultural Exhibition, 7 key factors that would support, assist and activate agricultural investment in Egypt, including reviewing agricultural policies and supporting farmers through a suitable guaranteed price for farmers, as well as horizontal and vertical expansion by increasing the agricultural area and improving the quality of crops.

He stressed that among the factors is the necessity of having Egyptian seed companies capable of providing good varieties that can confront soil problems and weather factors, in addition to the necessity of farmers’ commitment to preparing the land, preparing the soil and taking good care of crops in terms of providing pesticides and good irrigation methods.

Hamouda called on the government to work on attracting major local and international companies to invest in the Egyptian agricultural sector, similar to what is happening in the real estate sector, explaining that the Egyptian market is very promising and encouraging for investment, especially in the field of export crops, which Egypt enjoys and has many opportunities in global markets, such as citrus fruits, strawberries, and others.
